Judy Yawney, Volunteer Coordinator at Edmonton’s Food Bank takes her turn at the “Realty Executives Polar Plunge” in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank. Polar Dunk Veteran Judy Yawney in her second year participating in the event raised a VERY IMPRESSIVE amount in excess of $2,100 (a personal, and possibly all-time event record!) which contributed significantly to the collective total of $7,700 raised by all “polar bears”.
As you’ll see in the video, this event saw approximately 15 individuals, mainly realtors and staff of “Realty Executives” gather at noon on January 24, 2010 to get “dunked” into freezing cold water outdoors in the parking lot of the Royal Glenora Club in Edmonton, AB. The temperature was -12 degrees celcius however whipping winds in the river valley pushed the temperature to -22 degrees celcius with the wind chill. As if external factors weren’t sufficient, event organizers dumped bags of ice cubes into the tank to provide added “excitement”. Both Judy Yawney and food bank volunteer Dylan Mackowetzky had the pleasure of being “dunked by “Fill-Up”, the beloved Food Bank Mascot.
The proceeds of this event will go a long way towards helping Edmonton’s Food Bank fulfil their mandate.
We would like to thank the staff, event organizers and participants from Realty Executives as well as our hosts at the Royal Glenora Club.
Thanks to all involved for your donations, support and encouragement.
