I see many corporate cultures have policies espousing honestly publically, but its hard to tell if this is an actuality or putting on a good face. It seems undesirable to convince customers and employees that they should be honest in personal and provate dealing and yet it doesnt always transalte to practice.
An 300mm IBM East Fsihkill executive said once "IBM has no particular business interest whether or not managers lie about employees" and said so in the context of employees performance and work histories and yet Sam Palimsano says IBMers are supposed to be honest in all relationships. So is honesty and ethics something important and should be true even when no one is looking, or something to put on a good face even if your dishonest behind the scenes? A reality or a politic?
Is it realistic to expect individuals and corporations to be honest in business dealings? or is from another age
The Standard is as High as the Board of Directors and CEO set and Should be Very High. Enron and others prove dishonesty in a Corporation or any business is a cover-up for the management or employee, not having true Ethics or just plain not caring. I agree it is wrong and is a political ploy…..I would fire a manager or any employee caught in a lie faster then they could come up with an excuse. It ,as you point out , is a reflection on the Corp. image and the Stock holders..
