Dose anybody outside of Hollywood care about the writers strike?

A meaningless awards show was canceled, and all the good shows are written by the executive producers. People are still going to watch TV regardless. Will this just strengthen the grip reality TV has?
Productions company’s are part ofHollywood
The good shows with plots (like LOST) are written by the executive producers.
"The Executive Producers who are also writers are members of the WGA" Thats simply not true some are some are not.

No, I dont. Maybe people will finally turn off their stupid televisions and wasting time with movies.

It will definitely help the reality and game shows. I care about this writers strike because I am tired of not having anything to watch. I don’t subscribe to cable and I live in the country so I only get 5 channels. So lately we have been only able to watch the random crap that the local channels put on which most of it is paid programming.

The people that like watching shows with plots are pretty peeved, but those that only like reality shows are pretty much unaffected.

Some of those who watch tv with plots have stopped watching television all together while some have made due with re-runs and reality tv.

I believe that most people want the writer’s strike to be over, at least so they have the option of watching new episodes of plotted tv shows.

I could care less if they ever return to writing. Much of what they did was pretty mindless. At this point they should be invited back at half pay.

The Executive Producers who are also writers are members of the WGA, and bound to honor the strike. I hope more people turn off their TVs rather than watching reality shows, just to prove to the networks that we do care about quality.

Edit – Both JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof, who are producers of Lost, are WGA members who are honoring the strike. They’re working as directors on the Trek movie, but not doing any writing.
